Breaking Twilight was created across two seasons in two very different places. The first layers were drawn during Florida's summer, the heat seemed to seep into the work itself. Warm reds and glowing undertones emerged from that every summer I've spent there, carrying the weight of humidity and hot air.

Months later, after I moved to Virginia, the painting evolved in an unheated winter studio. The changing seasons inspired the work to shifted directions. The painting became a reflection of transition.

I am drawn to rediscovering value in discarded objects, allowing their histories to become part of the artwork.

Symbols of an inner whimsy tendrils weave through the composition like drifting smoke.

Through layered color, gesture, and texture, Breaking Twilight explores transformation, impermanence, and the unexpected beauty that emerges when seasons of life overlap.
